Important updates
Skills for Care have been able to extend the deadline for claiming WDF funding - The latest end date that can be agreed is 17th May, with evidence to be submitted up until Monday 21st May. However we would need as much as possible to be claimed by the original end of March end date.
A key issue being highlighted by many employers is the lack of availability of QCF units. As you may know 2011 / 12 is a transitional year as vocational qualifications change from national vocational qualifications (NVQs) offered under the national qualifications framework to new qualifications offered under the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF). The new qualifications provide a flexible, 'mix and match' approach to meeting the different development needs of the workforce enabling tailored qualifications and effective and accredited CPD. They have been developed in consultation with the sector and therefore reflect the current and future skill needs of the adult social care workforce.
Skills for Care is committed to supporting the sector during this transition, and have taken the following action in order to support our WDF members in both the short and long term:
• Extend the deadline for NVQ unit claims which now need to have been completed by 16th March 2012 and submitted by 20th March 2012.
• Extend the range of QCF units that are eligible for claiming workforce development funding to include all units that are covered by the level 2 and 3 diplomas and adults pathway in the level 5 diploma.
